Research Misconduct
INOTEKS takes all allegations of research and publication misconduct seriously and handles them following COPE guidance.
What counts as misconduct
- Fabrication or falsification of data, images, or results.
- Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and duplicate publication (see Plagiarism Policy & Screening).
- Undisclosed conflicts of interest, authorship manipulation, or undeclared use of AI.
- Manipulation of peer review or citations (see Peer Review Manipulation).
- Research without required ethics approval or consent (see Ethical Clearance Statement).
How allegations are handled
- Concerns may be raised by anyone, including anonymously (see Whistleblowing & Ethics Complaints).
- The Editor-in-Chief assesses the evidence and asks the authors for an explanation.
- Before publication, the manuscript is suspended; after publication, an expression of concern may be issued while the case is investigated.
- Where needed, the authors’ institution is asked to investigate (see Institutional Cooperation).
- Outcomes range from no action to correction, rejection, or retraction (see Correction, Retraction & Withdrawal).
