Institutional Cooperation
Some ethics cases can only be resolved with the help of the authors' institutions.
- Where there is evidence of serious misconduct, the editors may ask the authors' institution or funder to investigate, following the COPE guidance on cooperation between journals and institutions.
- The journal shares only the information needed for the investigation.
- The journal acts on the outcome of an institutional investigation, for example by correcting or retracting an article.
