Peer Review Manipulation
INOTEKS · JOURNAL POLICIES
Peer Review Manipulation
Any attempt to subvert peer review is serious misconduct.
- Examples include suggesting fake reviewers or email addresses, reviewing one's own manuscript, citation cartels, review rings, and offering inducements to editors or reviewers.
- The journal verifies reviewer identities through institutional pages and research profiles, and does not rely only on author-suggested reviewers.
- If manipulation is suspected, the manuscript is suspended and investigated under the COPE guidance on systematic manipulation of the publication process.
- Confirmed manipulation leads to rejection or retraction, and the authors' institutions may be informed.
