Research Data & Reproducibility
We encourage authors to make the data behind their findings available, so that others can check and build on the research.
- Include a Data Availability Statement explaining where the data can be found, or why they cannot be shared (for example, to protect participants' confidentiality).
- Where possible, deposit data in a trusted repository and cite them with a persistent identifier.
- Follow the FAIR principles (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) and, where research involves Indigenous or local communities, the CARE principles.
- Textual and archival sources should be cited precisely enough for others to locate them.
Editors or reviewers may ask to see the data during review. Fabrication or falsification of data is research misconduct.
