Generative AI Policy

Generative AI tools can support scholarly work, but they cannot replace the authors' own analysis, judgement, and responsibility.

For authors

  • AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors, because they cannot take responsibility for the work.
  • Any use of generative AI beyond basic grammar and spelling checks (for example, drafting text, translating, summarising literature, coding, or creating images) must be declared in a Generative AI Declaration before the references, naming the tool, its purpose, and how the authors checked the output.
  • Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy of all content, including any AI-assisted text, and must verify every reference.
  • AI-generated images or data presented as research findings are not permitted.

For reviewers and editors

See AI in Peer Review. Reviewers and editors must not upload manuscripts to generative AI tools.

Tools used by the journal

The editorial office uses Turnitin for similarity screening. It does not use AI tools to make editorial decisions or to write review reports or decision letters.

Undeclared or inappropriate AI use is handled under the Publication Ethics Statement.
