Author Guidelines
Efisiensi: Kajian Ilmu Administrasi publishes research articles, systematic literature reviews, and conceptual articles in administrative science. These guidelines cover the three stages of publishing with us: before submission, submission, and after submission. Please read them together with the three Efisiensi 2026 templates: 1. Title Page, 2. Anonymised Manuscript, and 3. Statement of Originality. Manuscripts that do not follow the templates are returned to the authors without review.
Part A. Before Submission
1. Check the scope and article type
Efisiensi covers office administration education, office information technology and automation, office and resource management, secretarial work and correspondence, records management, communication and public relations, event management and service excellence, organisation and leadership, human resources, and business and public administration.
| Article type | Description |
|---|---|
| Research article | Original empirical research using quantitative, qualitative, mixed, or development (R&D) methods. |
| Systematic literature review | A transparent review of published studies, reported according to PRISMA 2020. |
| Conceptual article | A theoretical argument or model grounded in current literature. |
2. Use the templates correctly
| Template | Use it for |
|---|---|
| 1. Title Page | Author names, affiliations, emails, ORCID iDs, manuscript information, Acknowledgments, and all Declarations. Uploaded as Title Page; not sent to reviewers. |
| 2. Anonymised Manuscript | The full manuscript without any author information. Uploaded as Anonymised Manuscript and sent to reviewers. |
| 3. Statement of Originality | The Statement of Originality and Publication Agreement, signed by the corresponding author on behalf of all authors. Uploaded as Statement of Originality (PDF). |
- Use the three templates for every submission; all are in English. After acceptance, the editorial team prepares the final layout of the article from the Title Page and the revised manuscript.
- Replace every instruction in the template with your own text and delete the instructions before submission.
- Keep the layout: A4, Times New Roman 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing for the body; abstracts in 10 pt single spacing.
- Do not fill in the article history, DOI, or citation box; the editor completes them.
3. Language and style
- From Volume 24 Number 1 (February 2027), all articles are published in English. Manuscripts written in Indonesian are considered only for issues up to Volume 23 Number 2 (2026); Indonesian manuscripts accepted for later issues must be translated into English before publication.
- Use one English spelling convention (British or American) consistently, and have the manuscript proofread by a professional editor or a fluent speaker before submission. Manuscripts with poor English are returned before review.
- Italicise non-English terms, and explain abbreviations at first use.
4. Manuscript structure
| Section | What to include |
|---|---|
| Title | At most 12 words; specific and informative, ideally showing the main finding. Avoid naming the research location unless the study is about that place. |
| Authors | Full names without academic titles or positions, separated by commas; department, faculty, institution, city, and country written in full; email of the corresponding author (*); ORCID iDs. Superscript numbers refer to institutions. Title Page only. |
| Abstract | One paragraph of at most 150 words: background (if needed), purpose, method, main results, and conclusion. No citations, tables, or figures. Indonesian manuscripts (issues up to 2026) also have an Indonesian abstract and title. |
| Keywords | 3–5 words or phrases that reflect the main concepts, separated by semicolons. |
| INTRODUCTION | Background, a review of recent studies (state of the art), the research gap and novelty, and the objective in the last paragraph. |
| METHOD | Design, population and sample or participants, instruments with validity and reliability, procedure, data analysis, and ethical procedures. Reviews report the search and selection process (PRISMA 2020). |
| RESULTS AND DISCUSSION | Results supported by tables or figures, followed by a discussion that interprets the findings with theory and compares them critically with recent studies. |
| CONCLUSION | Answers to the objectives and the new findings, with implications, limitations, and suggestions; no new discussion, data, or citations. |
| ACKNOWLEDGMENTS and DECLARATIONS | Acknowledgments, Author Contributions, Funding, Conflict of Interest, Ethics Approval, Data Availability, and Generative AI Statement (see item 5). |
| REFERENCES | APA 7th edition (see item 6). |
5. Required statements
- Author Contributions (CRediT), for example “A.B.: conceptualisation, methodology, writing – original draft; C.D.: data collection, formal analysis.”
- Funding: funder and grant number, or “This research received no external funding.”
- Conflict of Interest: for example “The authors declare no conflict of interest.”
- Ethics Approval and Informed Consent: the number and year of the ethics approval, or a statement that the study complied with research ethics and that informed consent was obtained; “Not applicable” for studies without human participants.
- Data Availability: where the data, questionnaires, or transcripts can be obtained.
- Generative AI Statement: the tool, version, and purpose, or a statement that no generative AI was used (Generative AI Policy).
- All statements are written on the Title Page. The Anonymised Manuscript repeats Conflict of Interest, Ethics Approval (with the committee name masked), Data Availability, and the Generative AI Statement. All statements are printed in the published article.
6. Citations, references, tables, and figures
- Follow APA 7th edition, for example (Rahman, 2021); (Putri & Santoso, 2020); three or more authors: (Wijaya et al., 2022) from the first citation.
- Include at least 20 references. At least 80% must be primary sources (journal articles, conference proceedings, theses, or research monographs) and at least 80% must be published in the last 10 years. Cite original sources rather than “A (2015) in B (2020)”. Include DOIs as https://doi.org/…
- Every citation must appear in the reference list and vice versa. Use a reference manager such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote with the APA 7th style.
- Number and title tables and figures and cite them in the text. Table titles go above tables; figure titles go below figures. Tables have no vertical lines. Figures must be at least 300 dpi.
7. Prepare files for double-blind review
- Anonymised Manuscript (template 2): no names, affiliations, emails, ORCID iDs, acknowledgments, author contributions, or funding. Cite your own work in the third person, mask your institution and research site, and remove personal data from the file properties.
- Title Page (template 1): all author details, manuscript information, acknowledgments, and all declarations.
- Statement of Originality (template 3): the Statement of Originality and Publication Agreement, signed by the corresponding author on behalf of all authors and saved as PDF.
- Supplementary files (optional): instruments, data, or transcripts, anonymised where needed.
8. Ethics and originality
- The manuscript must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
- Similarity must not exceed 20% overall and 1% from any single source, excluding references (Plagiarism Policy).
- Research with people requires informed consent and, where applicable, ethics approval.
- All authors must meet the authorship criteria and approve the submission (Authorship Policy).
9. Pre-submission checklist
- The manuscript is written in English (required from Volume 24 Number 1, February 2027).
- The three templates are used and all template instructions are removed.
- The title has at most 12 words; the abstract has at most 150 words; there are 3–5 keywords.
- The Introduction states the gap, novelty, and objective.
- The Method describes the design, sample or participants, instruments, analysis, and ethical procedures.
- The Discussion compares findings with previous studies; the Conclusion answers the objective.
- Tables and figures are numbered, titled, and cited.
- There are at least 20 APA 7th references, at least 80% primary and from the last 10 years, with DOIs where available, all cited in the text.
- Similarity is at most 20% overall and 1% per source.
- All declarations are complete on the Title Page.
- The manuscript is anonymised; the Title Page and the signed Statement of Originality are separate files.
- All authors have approved the submission and have ORCID iDs.
Part B. Submission
- Register as an Author at journal.uny.ac.id/index.php/efisiensi, or log in.
- Start: confirm the submission checklist and use the comments to the editor to suggest reviewers or request an APC waiver.
- Upload three files, choosing the matching component for each: Title Page, Anonymised Manuscript, and Statement of Originality. Upload instruments or data as Research Instrument or Data Set. Never upload the title page as the manuscript.
- Metadata: enter the title, abstract, and keywords exactly as in the manuscript; add all co-authors with affiliations, countries, emails, and ORCID iDs; add the references and funding information.
- Confirm and finish. You will receive an acknowledgement email.
