Reviewer Selection

Policy

Jurnal Pendidikan Teknologi dan Kejuruan (JPTK) selects reviewers on the basis of expertise and independence, following the COPE guidance on peer review. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. See the Peer Review Process.

How reviewers are chosen

  • Subject and method expertise that matches the manuscript, especially in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and related fields.
  • A record of sound, constructive, and fair reviewing, where the editors know of it.
  • No conflict of interest with the authors or the work. See Reviewer Competing Interests.
  • Suggestions from editors, the editorial board, and the wider scholarly community, and from searches of the literature.

Reviewers suggested by authors

  • Authors may suggest reviewers, but the editors decide, and do not have to use the suggestions.
  • Suggested reviewers are checked for independence. Co-authors, colleagues at the same institution, and people with a close personal or professional link are not used.
  • Authors may ask that certain people are not used as reviewers, with a reason.

Checks

  • The editors verify the identity and the institutional affiliation of a reviewer before the invitation is sent.
  • Email addresses are checked. Addresses that are not institutional or are not verifiable may be refused.
  • A reviewer who gives a very different assessment from others may be asked for clarification, and an additional reviewer may be invited.
