The journal follows the COPE Core Practices on governance.

Appointment

  • Other editors and board members are invited by the Editor-in-Chief, taking account of the needs of the journal, including subject coverage and geographic diversity.
  • Candidates are asked about their expertise, affiliation, and any competing interests, and agree to follow the policies of the journal.
  • New members are listed on the Editorial Team page, with their affiliations.

Term and review

  • The term of each appointment, and its renewal, is agreed when the person is appointed.
  • The Editor-in-Chief reviews the composition of the team regularly, and the contribution of each member, so that the team stays active and suited to the needs of the journal.

Ending an appointment

  • A member can resign at any time by writing to the Editor-in-Chief.
  • A member may be asked to step down if the term ends, if the person has not contributed over a long time, or if the person no longer meets the standards of the journal.
  • A member who is found to have committed misconduct, or to have broken the confidentiality of the review process, is removed. The case is handled under Publication Ethics.
  • The removal of the Editor-in-Chief is a matter for the publisher.

When an editor leaves
