Authorship Policies

Policy

Jurnal Pendidikan Teknologi dan Kejuruan (JPTK) follows the COPE Core Practice on authorship and contributorship. Authorship credits the people who are responsible for the work and who are accountable for it. All authors must agree on who is listed, and in what order, before the manuscript is submitted.

Who is an author

An author is a person who meets all of the following:

  • Has made a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the work, or to the collection, analysis, or interpretation of the data.
  • Has drafted the work or revised it critically for important intellectual content.
  • Has approved the final version and agrees to be accountable for the work.
  • Is able to identify which parts of the work were done by which co-authors, and is confident of their integrity.

People who contributed in other ways, such as technical help, support with data collection, language editing, or general supervision, are named in the acknowledgements, with their permission.

Authorship problems the journal does not accept

Guest authorship Naming a person who has not made a substantial contribution.
Gift authorship Naming a person as a favour or because of seniority or position.
Ghost authorship Leaving out a person who has made a substantial contribution.

Responsibilities of authors

  • Agree on the author list and the order of names before submission.
  • Name one corresponding author, who enters the details of every author in the submission form and tells the co-authors about decisions and requests. See the Author Guidelines.
  • Give the email, the affiliation, and the Bio Statement of each author.
  • Describe each author’s contribution, using the CRediT taxonomy if possible, and give an ORCID iD where possible.
  • Do not list a person as an author without that person’s knowledge and consent.

Generative AI

AI tools cannot be listed as authors, because they cannot take responsibility for the work. Authors remain accountable for all content, and disclose substantive use of AI. See the Generative AI Policy.

Changes and disputes

Changes to the author list need the written agreement of all authors. See Authorship Changes and Disputes. Suspected authorship misconduct is handled under Publication Ethics.
