Duplicate Publication

Policy

Jurnal Pendidikan Teknologi dan Kejuruan (JPTK) follows the COPE guidance on redundant (duplicate) publication. A manuscript must be original. It must not have been published before in any form, and must not be under consideration by another journal at the same time. See the Plagiarism Policy and Publication Ethics.

What counts as duplicate or redundant publication

  • Submitting the same manuscript, or a substantially overlapping one, to more than one journal at the same time.
  • Publishing the same data, text, or findings in more than one article without disclosure.
  • Splitting one study into several articles (“salami slicing”) without a scholarly reason.
  • Reusing large parts of the authors’ own earlier text, figures, or tables without citation (text recycling).

What is not duplicate publication

  • A preprint, a thesis or dissertation, or a conference abstract, if it is disclosed at submission. See the Preprint Policy.
  • A translation or a secondary article, only with the permission of both editors, a clear reference to the original, and a clear statement of what it is.

What authors must do

  • Declare at submission any related work that is published, accepted, or under review, and cite it.
  • Explain in the Comments to the Editor how the manuscript differs from related work.
  • Do not submit the manuscript elsewhere while it is under review here.

What the journal does

Manuscripts are checked for similarity before review. If duplicate publication is suspected, the editors ask the authors for an explanation and may contact the other journal or the institution of the authors, following the COPE flowcharts. The manuscript can be rejected, and a published article can be corrected or retracted. See Retraction, Withdrawal & Correction.
