Research Misconduct

Policy

Ethnomathematics Journal takes research misconduct seriously. The journal follows the COPE guidance and flowcharts for handling it, and works with the institutions of the authors when it is needed. See Publication Ethics.

Examples

How a concern is handled

  • The editors receive the report, with the evidence, and keep it confidential.
  • The Editor-in-Chief decides whether the concern is serious enough to look into.
  • The authors are asked to respond. The editors may ask for the raw data and may seek expert advice.
  • If the concern is not resolved, the institution of the authors may be asked to investigate. The editors do not decide on misconduct of individuals, and wait for the findings.
  • The editors act on the outcome: a correction, an expression of concern, a retraction, a notice to the institution, or a ban from the journal. See Correction, Retraction and Withdrawal.

Reporting a concern

Write to ethnomath@uny.ac.id with the manuscript or the article, the evidence, and your contact details. Anonymous reports with clear evidence are also considered. Reports made in good faith are protected, and the journal does not accept malicious accusations.
