Correction-Retraction

Policy

The scholarly record must be accurate. Ethnomathematics Journal corrects errors in published articles openly, and follows the COPE Retraction Guidelines. Published articles are not silently changed or removed. See Publication Ethics.

Kinds of notice

Correction (erratum or corrigendum) For an error that does not change the findings or the conclusions. It is published as a notice that is linked to the article, and the article is marked.
Expression of concern For when there are serious worries about the work, but the evidence is not yet enough, or an investigation is going on.
Retraction For when the findings are unreliable because of misconduct or honest error, or because of duplicate publication, plagiarism, or serious ethical problems. The notice states the reason.
Withdrawal before publication For a manuscript that is withdrawn by the author before publication. See below.

How a notice is made

  • The notice is published, with a DOI, on the website, and is linked both ways to the article.
  • A retracted article stays on the website, and is marked as retracted, so that the record is clear.
  • The notice says who asked for it and why, in a neutral way.
  • The journal informs the indexing services, so that they can update their records.

Withdrawal by authors

  • Before publication, authors can withdraw a manuscript by writing to the editor with the reason. All authors must agree.
  • A manuscript withdrawn during review, without good reason, may lead to a note to the institution.
  • After publication, an article is not withdrawn but corrected or retracted.

Removal

An article is removed from the website only in rare cases, such as when it is illegal, defamatory, infringes rights, or poses a serious risk to health. A notice remains in place.

How to request one

Write to ethnomath@uny.ac.id with the article, the reason, and the evidence. See Research Misconduct and Post-Publication Discussion.
