Editorial Procedure
Ethnomathematics Journal implements a structured editorial workflow to ensure fairness, academic quality, and transparency in the publication process. All manuscripts are handled according to established scholarly publishing standards and ethical guidelines.
- Manuscript Submission
Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system. Submissions must comply with the journal’s author guidelines, formatting requirements, and ethical standards.
- Initial Editorial Assessment
Upon submission, the Editor-in-Chief or an assigned editor conducts an initial screening to evaluate:
- relevance to the journal’s scope,
- originality and scholarly contribution,
- clarity and academic quality,
- compliance with ethical and formatting requirements.
Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected at this stage without external review.
- Plagiarism Screening
All submissions are checked using plagiarism detection software to ensure originality. Manuscripts with substantial similarity or evidence of academic misconduct will be rejected or returned to authors for clarification.
- Peer Review Process
Manuscripts that pass the initial assessment are sent to at least two independent reviewers under a double-blind peer review system, where both author and reviewer identities are concealed.
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on:
- originality and novelty,
- theoretical and methodological rigor,
- clarity of presentation,
- contribution to ethnomathematics and mathematics education,
- relevance to an international scholarly audience.
- Editorial Decision
Based on reviewers’ reports, the editor makes one of the following decisions:
- Accept
- Minor Revision
- Major Revision
- Reject
Editors may request multiple rounds of revision when necessary to ensure academic quality.
- Revision Stage
Authors receiving revision decisions must submit:
- a revised manuscript, and
- a detailed response to reviewers’ comments.
Revised manuscripts may be returned to reviewers for further evaluation.
- Acceptance and Copyediting
After acceptance, manuscripts undergo editorial processing, including copyediting, layout editing, and reference verification to ensure clarity, consistency, and publication quality.
- Proofreading and Author Approval
Authors receive page proofs for final checking prior to publication. Authors are responsible for reviewing typographical or minor errors at this stage.
- Publication
Accepted articles are published in the upcoming scheduled issue (March or September). The journal follows a biannual publication schedule while accepting submissions continuously throughout the year.
- Ethical Oversight
Editors, reviewers, and authors are expected to adhere to the journal’s publication ethics and confidentiality policies throughout the editorial process.
