1. Definition of Research Misconduct

Research misconduct includes, but is not limited to:

  • Fabrication: Making up research data, observations, findings, or results.

  • Falsification: Manipulating research materials, procedures, data, or results to misrepresent research findings.

  • Plagiarism: Using another person's ideas, words, data, or intellectual contributions without appropriate acknowledgment.

  • Duplicate Publication: Publishing or submitting substantially the same research to multiple journals without appropriate disclosure or authorization.

  • Authorship Misconduct: Misrepresenting authorship contributions or including individuals who do not meet authorship requirements.

  • Citation Manipulation: Inappropriately manipulating references or citations to influence citation metrics.

2. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, authenticity, and integrity of their research. They must present their findings honestly, acknowledge relevant sources, and comply with applicable research ethics requirements.

3. Identification of Research Misconduct

Suspected research misconduct may be identified during editorial screening, peer review, or after publication. Concerns may be reported to the editorial team for further examination.

4. Handling Allegations of Misconduct

When allegations of research misconduct arise, the editorial team should assess the available evidence objectively and confidentially. Authors should be given an opportunity to provide clarification or respond to the allegations before an editorial decision is made.

5. Editorial Actions

Depending on the nature and severity of confirmed misconduct, appropriate editorial actions may include requesting corrections, rejecting a manuscript, issuing a correction or retraction, or referring concerns to the relevant institution when necessary.

6. Commitment to Publication Ethics

JPIP is committed to upholding research integrity and responsible scholarly publishing. This policy should be read alongside the journal's Publication Ethics, Plagiarism Policy, and other relevant editorial policies.
