Designing Ecobalance: A Web-Based Learning Product for Enhancing Climate Change Literacy and Environmental Awareness
Climate change is one of the greatest global challenges that directly affects human life. As the next generation, students are required to possess environmental literacy and awareness to ensure the sustainability of the environment. Therefore, innovative, relevant, and engaging learning media are needed to support the achievement of these goals. This study aims to develop the Ecobalance website as an interactive learning medium to enhance high school students’ climate change literacy and environmental awareness. The research employed the Educational Design Research (EDR) method using the ADDIE development model, which consists of the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research subjects were tenth-grade high school students selected through purposive sampling. Data collection instruments included questionnaires and tests. The results showed that the Ecobalance website, based on assessments from material experts, media experts, and student responses, was rated as “Very Feasible.” Furthermore, the N-gain values obtained from the website’s implementation indicated that it was quite effective in improving students’ climate change literacy and environmental awareness. Therefore, the Ecobalance website can serve as an alternative digital learning medium that supports environmental education at the high school level.
