Metaverse-Based Learning Media for Introducing Yogyakarta’s Nitik Batik Motifs Using an Extended Reality Approach

Abstract


The introduction of Yogyakarta's nitik batik motifs is an important effort in maintaining and introducing Indonesia's cultural heritage to the younger generation. In this context, metaverse-based learning media is used as an innovative solution. This research discusses the implementation of metaverse-based learning media with Extended Reality (XR) approach for the introduction of Yogyakarta nitik batik motifs. Through the utilization of XR technology in metaverse, users can experience an immersive virtual environment and can provide a more interactive and in-depth learning impression, which can improve their understanding of the meaning and beauty of nitik batik motifs. The method used in this research is a case study analysis literature study. The case study conducted was by selecting the Yogyakarta batik lovers community as respondents. The results of this study show the great potential of metaverse as a learning media that can enrich the understanding of culture and art, especially in the context of Yogyakarta's nitik batik motifs and can be used as educational material because of the potential of applications that support the technological era and facilitate the community by learning from anywhere using virtual media, especially batik as a form of preservation of Indonesian culture.
