Type of Manuscript
Jurnal Penelitian Saintek (JPS) accepts two types of manuscript: the Original Research Article and the Systematic Literature Review. Each has its own structure, and the manuscript is assessed against the structure of the type chosen at submission. Both follow the general rules in the Author Guidelines.
☰ Summary
| Original Research Article | Systematic Literature Review | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Reports new empirical, experimental, computational, or design findings. | Identifies, appraises, and synthesises existing studies on a defined question by an explicit, repeatable method. |
| Length | 5,000–8,000 words | 5,000–8,000 words |
| Abstract | 200–250 words | 200–250 words |

1 · Original Research Article
A full report of original research in the sciences, engineering, or science education. It states a clear problem, describes the work in enough detail for another researcher to repeat it, presents the data, and shows what they add to existing knowledge.
| Section | What it contains |
|---|---|
| Title, authors, abstract, keywords | As set out in the Author Guidelines. |
| Introduction | Background, a concise literature review, the research gap, and the objective or hypothesis. |
| Method | Design, materials or participants, instruments and equipment, procedures, data analysis, and ethical or safety measures, in repeatable detail. |
| Results and Discussion | Findings presented objectively, with adequate data, then interpreted against theory and prior studies, with the novelty and implications stated. |
| Conclusion | Answers the objective, states implications and limitations, and suggests future work. |
| End matter | Acknowledgements, Disclosure Statement, Funding, Data Availability, Ethics Approval, Author Contributions, Generative AI Declaration, References. |
2 · Systematic Literature Review
A structured review that answers a specific question by collecting every relevant study in a documented way, appraising their quality, and synthesising the results. It is not a general overview or an annotated bibliography.
| Section | What it contains |
|---|---|
| Title, authors, abstract, keywords | The title names the review type. The abstract states the question, sources, number of studies included, main findings, and implications. |
| Introduction | Background, the gap that justifies a review, and the review questions. |
| Review protocol | Databases and dates searched, search strings, inclusion and exclusion criteria, screening and selection (with a PRISMA flow diagram), quality appraisal, and data extraction and synthesis methods. A reader must be able to repeat the search. |
| Findings | The characteristics of the included studies, followed by results organised by review question or theme, with a summary table of the studies. |
| Synthesis and Discussion | What the studies show together, where they agree or conflict, the quality of the evidence, and the gaps they leave. |
| Conclusion | Answers the review questions, states implications and limitations of the review, and suggests directions for future research. |
| End matter | As for the Original Research Article. |
