Plagiarism Policy
Jurnal Penelitian Saintek (JPS) publishes only original work. Plagiarism in any form is a serious breach of publication ethics, and every manuscript is checked with similarity-detection software before it is sent for review.
▣ What Counts as Plagiarism
| Form | Description |
|---|---|
| Verbatim copying | Reproducing another's words without quotation marks and citation, however short the passage. |
| Mosaic or patchwork | Weaving phrases from a source into one's own sentences without attribution. |
| Paraphrase without citation | Restating another's argument or findings in different words while presenting them as one's own. |
| Self-plagiarism | Reusing substantial parts of one's own published work without citing it, including reusing a method section verbatim. |
| Data, image, and figure plagiarism | Presenting another's data, tables, figures, spectra, micrographs, or instruments as one's own, or reusing them without permission and credit. |
| Plagiarism of ideas | Taking the research question, design, or framework of another and presenting it as original. |
| Code plagiarism | Reusing another's source code without attribution or in breach of its licence. |
↻ How Manuscripts Are Checked
- Every manuscript is checked with similarity-detection software at the initial screening stage, and may be checked again before publication.
- The editors read the similarity report rather than the percentage alone. A high score drawn from the reference list, standard methodological phrasing, instrument names, or correctly quoted and cited material is treated differently from a lower score concentrated in a single passage of copied argument.
- Particular attention is paid to similarity with a single source, to uncited text in the introduction and discussion, and to passages that differ in style from the rest of the manuscript.

⚠ Consequences
| When it is found | What happens |
|---|---|
| Before review | The manuscript is returned to the authors for correction, or rejected. |
| During review | The review is stopped and the manuscript rejected. The authors are informed of the reason. |
| After publication | The editors follow the R-W-C Policy. Depending on the extent, the article is corrected or retracted, with a notice published openly and permanently linked to it. |
| In serious cases | The authors' institution is informed, and the journal may decline submissions from the authors for a stated period. |
✔ Avoiding Plagiarism
- Cite every source of text, data, figures, instruments, and ideas.
- Put any borrowed wording in quotation marks with a page number, however brief.
- Paraphrase properly: understand the source, set it aside, write in your own words, then cite it.
- Cite your own earlier work as you would anyone else's.
- Obtain written permission for any figure, photograph, table, or instrument reproduced from another source, and credit it in the caption.
- Check the manuscript with similarity software yourself before submitting.
