Jurnal Civics: Media Kajian Kewarganegaraan accepts three types of manuscripts. Please choose the type that best fits your work and use the matching template (see Manuscript Templates).
1. Original Research Article

Reports original empirical research, qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods, that makes a clear contribution to citizenship studies and civic education.
- Structure: Introduction (with a required Theoretical framework or Conceptual framework subheading), Method, Results and Discussion, Conclusion
- Abstract: 200–250 words, covering purpose, design/method, findings, and originality/value
- References: More than 25, at least 80% from peer-reviewed journals published in the last 10 years
- Ethics: Ethics approval and informed consent for research with human participants
2. Systematic Literature Review
5,000–8,000 wordsPRISMA 2020Double-anonymous reviewTwo files + checklist
Synthesises existing research on a clearly defined question using a transparent, replicable method. Narrative overviews without a systematic method are not accepted.
- Structure: Introduction (with Theoretical/Conceptual framework), Method (protocol and registration, eligibility criteria, search strategy, selection, quality appraisal, synthesis), Results, Discussion, Conclusion
- Title: Must identify the article as a systematic literature review
- Abstract: 200–250 words, following PRISMA 2020 for Abstracts
- Required: PRISMA flow diagram in the text; completed PRISMA 2020 checklist as a supplementary file
3. Book Review
1,000–1,500 wordsEditorial reviewOne file
A critical assessment of a recent scholarly book relevant to citizenship, civic education, democracy, or related fields.
- Book: Published within the last three years; contact the Book Review Editor before writing
- Structure: Full bibliographic details, then continuous prose (context and aims, overview, critical evaluation, contribution, concluding assessment); no abstract, keywords, or headings
- End: Reviewer details, Disclosure Statement, and Declaration of Generative AI Use
Not accepted. Manuscripts outside the journal’s scope; purely descriptive reports without theoretical framing or analysis; narrative literature reviews without a systematic method; opinion pieces; and work already published or under review elsewhere.
