Editorial Independence

Policy

The editors of Diklus: Jurnal Pendidikan Luar Sekolah make decisions on manuscripts independently, on scholarly grounds alone. This follows the COPE Core Practices on governance and on the relationship with the publisher and the owners.

Who does what

  • The publisher, the Faculty of Education, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, supports the journal and provides its framework. It does not decide on individual manuscripts and does not ask the editors to accept or to reject a manuscript.
  • The Editor-in-Chief has the final decision on the content of the journal.
  • Decisions are not affected by the commercial, political, institutional, or personal interests of the publisher, the association, the editors, or anyone else.

Safeguards

  • Decisions are based on the quality of the work and on the review. See Editorial Decisions and Revision.
  • No payment or other favour can influence a decision. There is no submission or processing fee, and the Article Publication Charge plays no part in the decision. See Author Fees.
  • Editors declare their competing interests and do not handle manuscripts that they affect. See Editorial Competing Interests.
  • Editors who submit their own work follow a separate procedure. See Submissions from Editors.
  • Advertising, sponsorship, and funding, if any, have no part in editorial decisions.

If independence is threatened

Anyone who thinks that the independence of the journal has been compromised may write to the Editor-in-Chief, or, if the concern is about the Editor-in-Chief, to the publisher. Concerns are handled in line with Publication Ethics.
