Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs or DOIs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 11-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in have been followed.
  • AI Disclosure: The author(s) have included a declaration regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) or AI-assisted tools in the manuscript's preparation, in compliance with the journal’s ethics policy.

Author Guidelines

1. Before you submit

  • Diklus: Jurnal Pendidikan Luar Sekolah publishes empirical research-based and literature-based papers that contribute new knowledge, theories, or methods in non-formal and informal education. See Focus and Scope and Types of Manuscript.
  • The manuscript must be original, not published before, and not under consideration by another journal. The corresponding author confirms this at submission.
  • Read the Publication Ethics, Plagiarism Policy, and Generative AI Policy. Submissions that do not follow these guidelines may be returned without review.
  • Write the manuscript in the official template of the journal.

3. Structure of the manuscript

Title Clear, attractive, and informative, no more than 14 words.
Authors Names, institutions, and email addresses, without academic titles. For a paper with several authors, mark the corresponding author. Leave the author details out of the file used for review, to keep the review blind.
Abstract and keywords Fewer than 150 words in English, followed by 3–5 keywords for literature searches.
Introduction The background, a review of previous research, the aims, and the significance and novelty of the study.
Methods The research design, the analysis tools, the data collection, and the data analysis.
Results and Discussion Clear and concise results, discussed and compared with the existing literature and theories.
Conclusion A summary of the findings, with their practical, theoretical, and policy implications where relevant, drawn from the preceding sections.
Acknowledgments Thank people and institutions that helped but do not qualify as authors, with their permission. Following the template, the acknowledgment can also be placed as a footnote to the title.
Author Contributions For papers with more than one author, state what each author did, for example: conceptualisation, methodology, data collection, analysis, writing the original draft, and review and editing.
Funding Name every funder and the grant number, and describe the role of the funder. If there was no funding, write: “This research received no external funding.”
Conflict of Interest Declare any financial or personal relationship that could influence the work. If there is none, write: “The authors declare no conflict of interest.”
Ethics Approval and Consent Name the ethics committee and the approval number, and state how informed consent was obtained, or explain why approval was not needed. See the Ethical Clearance Statement.
Data Availability Say where the data can be found, or why they cannot be shared, for example to protect participants.
Declaration of Generative AI Use Name any generative AI tool used, its purpose, and how the output was checked. If none was used, write: “No generative AI was used in preparing this manuscript.”
References Only the works cited in the text, in APA style.
Appendix (optional) Instruments, extra tables, or other supporting material, if needed.

The statements from Acknowledgments to Declaration of Generative AI Use come after the Conclusion and before the References. In the file used for review, write them without names that identify the authors.

4. General writing format

Paper A4, single-sided, single line spacing
Margins 1.5 inches at the top and bottom, as set in the template
Body text Constantia, 11 pt. Indent the first line of each paragraph by 5 characters.
Title 14 pt, centred. Capitalise only the first word and proper names.
Headings 11 pt, left-aligned. Capitalise only the first word.
Third-level headings Left-aligned and in italics. Capitalise each word except connecting words.

5. Tables, figures, and equations

  • Number tables and figures with Arabic numerals (Table 1, Figure 1).
  • Put table titles above the table and figure titles below the figure.
  • Give the source below the table or figure, together with any notes.
  • Use horizontal row lines only in tables, with no vertical column lines.
  • Do not paste raw software output. Summarise the results in a table.
  • Number equations in brackets, (1), (2), on the right.

6. Citations and references

  • Cite in the text with the family name of the author and the year, for example Hill (2001) or (Hill, 2001).
  • List in the references only the works cited in the text, following APA style strictly.
  • More than 80% of the references should be from the last ten years, apart from key references, and textbooks should make up less than 20%.
  • Use a reference manager to keep citations and references consistent.

Common APA formats:

Journal article: Author, A. A., & Author, B. B. (Year). Title of the article. Journal Name, Volume(Issue), pages. https://doi.org/xxxx

Book: Author, A. A. (Year). Title of the book (Edition). Publisher.

Chapter: Author, A. A. (Year). Title of the chapter. In E. Editor (Ed.), Title of the book (pp. xx–xx). Publisher.

7. Acknowledgment and indexes

  • Write the acknowledgment after the Conclusion or, following the template, as a footnote to the title. See section 3.
  • Give a subject index of the specific terms used in the manuscript, and an author index of the key authors cited, written family name first.

9. How to submit

  1. Register or log in. When you register, add a short bio with your full name, academic title, institution, and contact numbers.
  2. Go to Online Submission and upload the Word file of the manuscript, prepared in the template.
  3. Upload the Author Declaration Form as a supplementary file.
  4. Follow the progress of the submission in the system, and answer the reviews within the time given by the editor.

10. Review and decisions

Every manuscript is checked for scope, similarity, method, readability, and use of the template, and then reviewed double-blind by at least two reviewers. The possible decisions are: accepted without revision, accepted with minor revision, accepted with major revision, or rejected. See Editorial Decisions and Revision.

11. Fees and copyright

  • There is no submission or processing fee. An Article Publication Charge of IDR 750,000 is payable only after acceptance, and a waiver can be requested. See Article Publication Charge.
  • From 2027, authors keep the copyright, and articles are published under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. See the Copyright Notice.

12. Submission checklist

  1. The manuscript is original, not published before, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  2. It is written in the journal template, as a Microsoft Word file, within 12–15 pages.
  3. The title has no more than 14 words, and the abstract has fewer than 150 words, in English, with 3–5 keywords.
  4. The author details are removed from the review file.
  5. Citations and references follow APA style, and every reference is cited in the text.
  6. Tables, figures, and equations follow section 5.
  7. The statements after the Conclusion are complete: author contributions, funding, conflict of interest, ethics approval and consent, data availability, and use of generative AI, and the Author Declaration Form is attached.

Copyright Notice

Diklus: Jurnal Pendidikan Luar Sekolah respects the intellectual property rights of authors and other copyright holders. This page explains who holds the copyright in published articles. The licence under which articles may be reused is set out on the Licensing Terms page.

Copyright ownership

From 2027 Authors retain the copyright of their scholarly works and grant Diklus: Jurnal Pendidikan Luar Sekolah the non-exclusive right of first publication.
Up to and including 2026 Copyright ownership follows the journal’s applicable copyright terms at the time of publication.
Policy changes Changes to the copyright policy do not automatically alter the copyright arrangements that govern previously published articles.

Authors’ rights

Authors publishing under the author-retained copyright arrangement may:

  • Deposit their published articles in institutional or disciplinary repositories.
  • Share their articles through personal or institutional academic websites.
  • Use their published work for teaching, research, and other lawful scholarly purposes.
  • Enter into separate, non-exclusive distribution arrangements that are consistent with the applicable license.

Appropriate acknowledgment of the original publication in Diklus: Jurnal Pendidikan Luar Sekolah must be maintained. See also Self-Archiving & Repository.

Third-party materials

  • Authors are responsible for obtaining the necessary permissions for copyrighted materials in their manuscripts, such as figures, photographs, illustrations, tables, and other third-party content.
  • Materials not covered by the article’s Creative Commons license must be clearly identified.

Author agreement

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that they have the necessary rights to publish the work and agree to the copyright terms that apply to the article.

Authors also grant Diklus: Jurnal Pendidikan Luar Sekolah permission to publish, disseminate, preserve, and index the accepted article in accordance with the journal’s publishing agreement.

Copyright infringement

The Editorial Board will investigate allegations of copyright infringement. Where necessary, the journal may request documentation, consult the relevant copyright holders, or take appropriate corrective action consistent with publication ethics and applicable law. See Publication Ethics.
