Corretion and Retraction Policy
Corrections, Retractions, and Article Withdrawal Policy
Jurnal Ekonomi dan Pendidikan (JEP) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. In accordance with the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the journal addresses errors and publication ethics concerns through appropriate corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions.
Policy Overview
- Corrections: For significant errors that do not invalidate the main findings.
- Expressions of Concern: For unresolved questions about an article's reliability or integrity.
- Retractions: For articles with unreliable findings or serious ethical breaches.
- Article Withdrawal: For manuscripts withdrawn before publication with journal confirmation.
1. Corrections
JEP publishes corrections when significant errors are identified in a published article. Corrections may address errors introduced by the journal or by the authors, provided that the article's main findings and conclusions remain valid. Minor typographical or formatting errors that do not affect the meaning of the article may not require a formal notice.
Requests for correction may be submitted by authors or other concerned parties to the Editor-in-Chief through the journal's official website. All requests are evaluated by the editorial team, and supporting evidence may be requested before a decision is made.
2. Expressions of Concern
An expression of concern may be published when there are substantial questions about the reliability or integrity of a published article, but the available evidence is inconclusive or an investigation is ongoing. The journal will update the notice when further information becomes available.
3. Retractions
JEP may retract a published article when its findings are unreliable because of serious errors or research misconduct, including fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, duplicate publication, unethical research practices, or serious breaches of publication ethics.
Retractions may be initiated by the authors, the editorial team, or information received from relevant institutions or other parties. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision after evaluating the available evidence and giving the authors an opportunity to respond.
A retraction notice will explain the reasons for the retraction and remain publicly accessible. The original article will be clearly marked as retracted and linked to the notice to maintain transparency and protect the scholarly record.
4. Article Withdrawal
Authors who wish to withdraw a manuscript before publication must submit a written request to the editorial team, explaining the reasons for withdrawal. Withdrawal is effective only after confirmation by the journal. Published articles cannot be withdrawn but may be corrected or retracted when justified.
5. Editorial Procedures and Appeals
All correction and retraction requests are assessed fairly, objectively, and confidentially. The journal distinguishes honest errors from deliberate misconduct and may consult independent experts or the authors' institutions when necessary. Authors are given an opportunity to respond to concerns before a final decision is made.
Corrections, expressions of concern, and retraction notices are published transparently and linked to the original article whenever applicable. The journal maintains appropriate records and updates relevant publication metadata and indexing services where necessary.
