Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
Jurnal Pendidikan Anak • Aligned with Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices
Jurnal Pendidikan Anak (JPA) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and research integrity. This statement outlines the ethical duties and behavioral expectations for Authors, Peer Reviewers, and Editors in alignment with the 10 Core Practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Authorship, Contributorship, and Disputes
- Authorship Criteria: Authorship must reflect substantial intellectual contribution to the conception, design, data acquisition, analysis, drafting, or critical revision of the manuscript. Ghost, guest, or honorary authorship is strictly forbidden.
- Contribution Disclosure: The journal adopts the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) standard to specify individual author contributions transparently before publication.
- Authorship Disputes: Any addition, deletion, or reordering of authors after submission requires formal written consent from all listed authors. Disputes that cannot be resolved amicably will be referred to the authors' home institutions following COPE guidelines.
2. Handling Misconduct Allegations and Whistleblowing
The journal takes all credible allegations of publication misconduct seriously, whether submitted by reviewers, readers, institutions, or anonymous whistleblowers:
- Scope of Misconduct: Includes data fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, text recycling without attribution, redundant publication, and peer review manipulation.
- Investigation Procedure: The Editor-in-Chief investigates concerns using relevant COPE flowcharts. Authors or affected parties will be contacted confidentially to provide an explanation and supporting evidence.
- Whistleblower Protection: Good-faith complainants and whistleblowers will be protected with utmost confidentiality throughout the inquiry.
3. Complaints and Editorial Appeals Procedure
The journal maintains distinct and impartial procedures for appeals against manuscript decisions and complaints about operational conduct:
- Editorial Appeals: Authors may submit a formal appeal against a rejection if they provide detailed factual evidence of significant factual error, technical oversight, or bias during peer review. Disagreement with editorial discretion alone is insufficient. Appeals are assessed independently by an editor uninvolved in the original decision.
- General Complaints: Complaints regarding delays, staff conduct, or procedural errors should be submitted in writing with supporting documentation. The editorial leadership will acknowledge and address complaints impartially within a reasonable timeframe.
4. Conflicts of Interest and Transparency of Funding
- Author Declarations: Authors must disclose all financial, institutional, or personal competing interests that could inappropriately influence their work, along with full funding sources and the sponsor's role in the study.
- Reviewer & Editor Recusal: Reviewers and editors must recuse themselves from evaluating any submission where they have personal, professional, or financial ties with the authors. Submissions authored by editors will be handled independently without their participation.
- Revenue & Advertising: The journal's publication revenue and institutional backing do not affect editorial judgement, and commercial advertising is strictly prohibited.
5. Ethical Oversight in Child Studies
Given the journal's focus on early childhood education, empirical research involving children must demonstrate formal institutional ethical approval and written parental/guardian consent. Visual documentation must obscure facial features to protect child privacy unless explicit parental publication permissions are secured.
6. Corrections, Expressions of Concern, and Retractions
To preserve the permanent scholarly record, published papers with significant errors will be updated via formal Corrections (Errata/Corrigenda) linked directly to the original work. In cases of unresolvable reliability or serious misconduct, articles will be formally retracted with a clear retraction notice and watermarked PDF in strict adherence to the COPE Retraction Guidelines.
Editorial Independence & Integrity Guarantee
The Editor-in-Chief retains complete authority and independence regarding the scholarly contents and editorial decisions of Jurnal Pendidikan Anak. Commercial relationships, author fees, or institutional affiliations will never compromise peer review rigor or editorial outcomes.
