Post-Publication Discussions and Scientific Debate
Jurnal Pendidikan Anak (JPA) | PGPAUD Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta
Jurnal Pendidikan Anak (JPA) recognizes that scholarly communication does not terminate upon publication. Constructive intellectual debate, replication efforts, and evidence-based critiques are vital components of scientific progress in early childhood education. JPA welcomes academic feedback, commentaries, and discussions regarding published papers in compliance with the standards set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Channels for Post-Publication Discussion
1. Letters to the Editor / Commentaries
Readers and researchers may submit formal scholarly letters critiquing the methodology, findings, or interpretations of an article published in JPA. Letters must be substantive, professional, and supported by empirical evidence.
2. Author Response & Rebuttal
When a critical letter or commentary is accepted, the original authors will be invited to submit a formal response/rebuttal. Whenever feasible, both the critique and the author's response are published concurrently in the subsequent issue.
3. Author Direct Correspondence
Readers seeking clarification on early childhood experimental setups, observational rubrics, or raw dataset inquiries may reach out directly to the corresponding author using the contact details published in the article metadata.
Criteria for Submitting a Scholarly Critique
- Relevance & Timeliness: The commentary must refer to an article published in JPA within the preceding 24 months.
- Tone & Objectivity: Submissions must maintain an objective, constructive academic tone. Personal attacks, defamatory remarks, or unfounded accusations will be rejected immediately.
- Word Count: Typically limited to 1,000 – 1,500 words with a maximum of 10 references.
- Peer Review: Commentaries and author responses undergo editorial evaluation and may be sent for blind peer review prior to acceptance.
Matters Leading to Corrections or Retractions
If post-publication discussions uncover verifiable mathematical errors, unintentional data flaws, or ethical breaches that substantially alter the conclusions of the study, the editorial board will liaise with the authors to issue a formal Corrigendum, Erratum, or, where integrity is fundamentally compromised, initiate a Retraction in alignment with the journal’s Correction and Retraction Policy.
How to Submit a Comment or Inquiry
