Digital Archiving & Preservation Policy

Jurnal Pendidikan Anak (JPA) | PGPAUD Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta

Jurnal Pendidikan Anak (JPA) is firmly committed to the permanent preservation, integrity, and uninterrupted accessibility of all published scholarly literature. To mitigate risks associated with hardware malfunctions, data corruption, or potential discontinuation of the primary publishing platform, the journal employs a comprehensive distributed digital preservation framework across institutional, national, and international repository networks.

1. Distributed Digital Archiving (PKP PN & LOCKSS / CLOCKSS)

JPA participates in global decentralized archiving initiatives to guarantee that published content remains permanently accessible regardless of platform disruptions:

  • Public Knowledge Project Preservation Network (PKP PN): Digitally preserves all published issues through a decentralized network of participating global academic partner libraries.
  • LOCKSS & CLOCKSS Compatibility: The journal platform supports the Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe (LOCKSS) system and Controlled LOCKSS architecture, allowing research libraries to store decentralized, verifiable digital copies of the journal’s output.
  • Portico / Long-Term Archives: Metadata and digital full-text galleys are structured to comply with international digital preservation protocols for long-term discovery and retrieval.

2. National Repositories and Persistent Link Identifiers

All metadata, abstracts, and full-text PDF files from every published issue are systematically archived and discoverable via established academic repositories:

  • Garuda (Garba Rujukan Digital): Harvested directly by the Indonesian national scientific index managed by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology / BRIN.
  • National Library of Indonesia (Perpusnas): Periodically deposited into the national legal deposit repository under ISSN regulations.
  • Crossref Digital Object Identifier (DOI): Every published article is assigned an active, persistent DOI (prefix: 10.21831/jpa) ensuring permanent digital linking and citation tracking.

3. Institutional Server Infrastructure (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta)

The journal.uny.ac.id domain operates on dedicated enterprise cloud infrastructure supervised by the Information and Communication Technology Center (UPT TIK) of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta:

  • Automated Backup System: Daily incremental backups and comprehensive weekly off-site backups are performed for all OJS databases, submission files, review logs, and published PDF galleys.
  • Institutional Repository Mirroring: All published issues are archived in the institutional digital archive of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta to maintain redundant institutional access.
  • Security & Uptime: High-availability server clusters with SSL encryption (HTTPS) protect against unauthorized data tampering, downtime, or digital data loss.

4. Self-Archiving & Author Repository Rights

In support of open scholarship, authors publishing in JPA retain the right to self-archive and deposit versions of their work across personal, disciplinary, and institutional repositories:

  • Pre-print: Authors may archive non-peer-reviewed pre-print drafts at any stage.
  • Post-print (Accepted Version): Authors may archive the accepted peer-reviewed manuscript upon completion of the editorial review.
  • Version of Record (Published PDF): Authors are permitted and encouraged to deposit the final published publisher's version immediately upon publication without embargo, with proper citation and DOI link to the original JPA article.

5. Long-Term Availability & Contingency Plan

In the unlikely event that Jurnal Pendidikan Anak ceases publication or the main university domain becomes permanently inaccessible, the digital preservation networks (including PKP PN and institutional legal deposits) will activate trigger protocols to ensure that all previously published volumes and articles remain openly accessible to the public indefinitely.
