1

Editorial Authority and Freedom

The Editor-in-Chief has full authority over the scholarly content published in Jurnal Pendidikan Anak (JPA).

  • Decisions to accept, revise, reject, correct, or retract submissions are based exclusively on scientific merit, originality, methodological rigor, ethical integrity, and alignment with the journal’s focus and scope.
  • Decisions are made without regard to authors' race, nationality, gender, political philosophy, institutional prestige, or personal identity.
  • Handling editors evaluate reviewer reports critically and make reasoned determinations independent of external pressures.
2

Relationship with Publisher and Host Institution

JPA is published by the Department of Early Childhood Teacher Education (PGPAUD), Faculty of Education and Psychology, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta.

Administrative Boundaries
The university leadership and publisher provide infrastructural, financial, and hosting support, but do not determine or interfere with editorial decisions on individual papers.
Appointment Term & Security
Editors are appointed based on scholarly expertise. Dismissal or non-renewal cannot be executed arbitrarily as retaliation for editorial decisions that challenge administrative preferences.
3

Independence from Fees, Revenue, and Commercial Interests

Complete Firewalls Between Finance and Editorial Assessment:
  • APC Blindness: Article Processing Charges (APC) and fee waiver requests are handled strictly after editorial acceptance, or through segregated administrative desks. Reviewers and editors assess manuscripts without knowledge of the author's payment capacity or waiver status.
  • No Paid Fast-Tracking: JPA does not offer expedited review services in exchange for additional payment. Acceptance cannot be purchased.
  • Prohibition of Commercial Advertisements: The journal does not accept commercial advertising, eliminating any potential marketing influence on published research.
4

Submissions Authored by Editors and Board Members

Members of the Editorial Board and Section Editors are permitted to submit manuscripts to JPA, but receive no preferential treatment. To guarantee impartiality:

Delegation to Independent Handling Editor
An editor who is an author or co-author is entirely excluded from the editorial handling of the submission. The manuscript is reassigned to an independent editor.
System Access Restrictions
The conflicted editor is locked out of the OJS editorial dashboard for that submission and has no access to confidential reviewer identities or internal communications.
Published Disclosure
Any published article authored by an editorial board member includes a formal declaration disclosing the independent handling process.
5

Managing Editorial Competing Interests and Recusal

Editors must proactively declare any relationships that could compromise, or appear to compromise, their impartiality:

  • Mandatory Recusal: Editors must recuse themselves from managing submissions from their direct collaborators, current students, close colleagues from the same department, or personal acquaintances.
  • Alternative Assignment: In instances of recusal, the Editor-in-Chief designates an alternate editor without conflicts to manage peer review and render decisions.
  • Annual Declarations: All board members update competing interest disclosures annually.
6

Protection of Editorial Process and Integrity Inquiries

Legal and Ethical Consultations

Where significant allegations of misconduct, copyright infringement, or defamation arise, the Editor-in-Chief may consult legal counsel, institutional oversight boards, or publisher advisors. However, the final publication outcome (correction, retraction, or retention) remains an editorial responsibility governed by COPE flowcharts.

Commitment to Editorial Integrity

The editorial independence of Jurnal Pendidikan Anak ensures that our contributors, readers, reviewers, and indexing bodies can trust the credibility and uncompromised rigor of our scholarly record.
