Plagiarism and Research Integrity Policy

Commitment to Academic Integrity

Jurnal Pendidikan Vokasi is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity, research ethics, and publication quality. All manuscripts submitted to the journal must present original empirical research and be free from plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, data falsification, and other forms of research misconduct.

Submission of a manuscript to Jurnal Pendidikan Vokasi implies that the authors agree to comply with this policy.

Originality and Proper Attribution

Authors must ensure that all submitted manuscripts are original works and that any ideas, data, figures, tables, images, or text derived from other sources are properly acknowledged through appropriate citation.

Direct quotations must be clearly identified using quotation marks or block quotations, and permission must be obtained when reproducing copyrighted materials where required.

Plagiarism and Self-Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • copying text, ideas, data, figures, images, or research results without proper acknowledgment;
  • presenting another person's work as one's own;
  • excessive paraphrasing without appropriate citation;
  • submitting manuscripts that substantially overlap with previously published works;
  • self-plagiarism, including the inappropriate reuse of the author's own published material without proper citation or disclosure.

Manuscripts containing unethical overlap or plagiarism may be rejected at any stage of the editorial process.

Duplicate, Redundant, and Salami Publication

Authors must not submit manuscripts that have been published previously or are simultaneously under consideration by another journal.

A single research project should not be inappropriately divided into multiple publications solely to increase publication output ("salami publication"). Manuscripts derived from the same dataset must clearly demonstrate substantial novelty and a meaningful scientific contribution beyond previously published work.

Data Integrity and Research Transparency

Authors are expected to report research findings honestly, accurately, and transparently.

The following practices are strictly prohibited:

  • fabrication or falsification of research data;
  • selective reporting of research findings;
  • inappropriate manipulation of images, figures, or data;
  • misleading interpretation or presentation of results.

Authors should retain original research data and make them available to the editorial office upon reasonable request where appropriate.

Similarity Screening

All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software before entering the peer-review process.

Similarity reports are evaluated by the editorial team to distinguish acceptable textual similarity from potential academic misconduct. Editorial decisions are based on the nature, source, and context of the similarity rather than similarity percentages alone.

Similarity may be considered acceptable when it involves:

  • references and bibliography;
  • commonly used methodological descriptions;
  • standard terminology;
  • properly quoted and appropriately cited material.

Editorial Actions

If plagiarism or other forms of publication misconduct are identified, the Editorial Board will take appropriate action depending on the severity of the case.

Possible actions include:

  • requesting revision and proper citation of sources;
  • requesting clarification from the authors;
  • rejecting the manuscript;
  • notifying the authors' affiliated institution where appropriate;
  • retracting or correcting published articles in accordance with publication ethics.

Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

  • the submitted manuscript is original;
  • all sources are appropriately acknowledged;
  • all quotations are clearly identified;
  • permissions have been obtained for copyrighted materials where necessary;
  • all listed authors have approved the submitted manuscript;
  • the manuscript complies with the journal's ethical and publication policies.

Publication Ethics

Jurnal Pendidikan Vokasi follows the principles of responsible scholarly publishing and adheres to internationally recognized publication ethics standards. Allegations of plagiarism or research misconduct are investigated fairly, confidentially, and objectively following the journal's editorial procedures.
