PEMBENTUKAN KARAKTER BANGSA MELALUI PENDIDIKAN NILAI
Abstract
Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengembangkan nilai-nilai kehidupan sebagai dimensi pembentuk karakter; (2) menelaah perolehan dimensi pendidikan nilai melalui faktor-faktor lingkungan; dan (3) mengungkap pencapaian pembentukan karakter melalui faktor lingkungan dan implementasi pendidikan nilai dalam mata pelajaran/kurikulum. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif eksploratif berdasarkan hasil evaluasi reflektif para guru mata pelajaran PKN, IPS, dan PKK dan siswa SMP di DIY. Data dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif, regresi dan t-test. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh adalah (1) guru menemukan 17 nilai-nilai kehidupan (pendidikan nilai) yang terkandung dalam konsep pendidikan konsumen yang merupakan dimensi pembentuk karakter; (2) siswa menjelaskan bahwa pendidikan nilai yang diperoleh dari keluarga, sekolah, teman sebaya, dan media masa cenderung cukup baik; dan (3) pendidikan nilai melalui keluarga, teman sebaya, dan media massa berpengaruh terhadap pembentukan karakter peserta didik, namun melalui sekolah tidak berpengaruh terhadap pembentukan karakter. Pembelajaran dengan menggunakan intervensi buku cerita pembelajaran nilai-nilai kehidupan dapat membentuk karakter siswa. Dalam silabus dan buku ajar terkandung sedikit dimensi pendidikan nilai.

Abstract: This research is aimed (1) to develop life values as a dimension of character builder; (2) to study the achievement of value education dimension as a character builder through the environmental factors; (3) to reveal the achievement of character building through environmental factors and the implementation of value education in school subjects/curriculum. This research is explorative descriptive based on the result of reflective evaluation made by junior high school teachers of PKN (civics), IPS (social science), and PKK (family welfare education) and by junior high school students in the Province of Yogyakarta Special Territory. The data were analyzed using the techniques of descriptive analysis, regression and t-test. It was concluded that (1) the teachers found 17 life values (value education) consisted of the concept of consumer education and the dimensions of character builder; (2) the students stated that value education obtained from the family, school, peers, and mass media tend to be good enough; and (3) the value of education through family, peers, and mass media influenced the character formation of the students, but that through the school had no effect on character building. The teaching and learning process using the intervention of story books of life values could develop the students’ character. In addition, there was little dimension of value education in the syllabus and text books.
