Editorial Assessment
Basis of decisions
Decisions on manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Kependidikan: Penelitian Inovasi Pembelajaran rest on scholarly merit alone: the significance of the problem, the soundness of the method, the strength of the evidence, and the fit with the journal's aims and scope. Decisions are not affected by the nationality, ethnicity, institutional affiliation, political views, or religion of the authors, by any external influence, or by the authors' ability to pay the article publishing cost.
Who decides, and when
Every submission is first assessed by the Managing Editor together with the Editor-in-Chief within ten working days of submission. This initial assessment covers scope, completeness, compliance with the author guidelines, and the Turnitin similarity report. At this stage a manuscript may be returned to the author for correction, or rejected without external peer review, when it falls outside the journal's scope, falls below the journal's minimum standard of scholarly contribution, fails the similarity threshold of 20 percent, or does not meet the research ethics requirements. Manuscripts that pass are assigned to a Section Editor, who manages the double-anonymised review.
Final decision
After at least two reviewer reports are received, the Section Editor submits a recommendation and the Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision to accept, request revision, or reject. Where the reviewer reports conflict, or where the Section Editor is uncertain, the decision is taken by consensus of the Editor-in-Chief and two Editors. The final accept or reject decision is never delegated to reviewers, to guest editors, or to the publisher.
Guest editors
Guest editors of special issues are appointed by the Editor-in-Chief and work under the same policies as regular editors. They may recommend decisions but the final decision on every manuscript in a special issue rests with the Editor-in-Chief.
Separation from payment
Editors who decide on manuscripts take no part in handling article publishing cost payments, invoicing, or waiver applications. Those are administered by the journal's administrative staff, who have no role in editorial decisions. No editor or member of staff receives any payment, bonus, or incentive linked to the number of articles accepted or published.
Relationship with the owner
The journal is owned and published by Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. The publisher appoints the Editor-in-Chief and funds the journal, and takes no part in decisions on individual manuscripts. Neither the publisher, nor any affiliated society, advertiser, or sponsor, may instruct the editors to accept or reject a manuscript. Editors who come under such pressure report it to the Directorate of Research and Community Service, and the journal records the incident.
Use of AI and automated tools
Editors and staff use Turnitin for similarity screening. Editors and staff do not upload manuscripts or any part of them to generative AI tools, and do not use AI to draft editorial decisions, generate editorial comments, or formulate revision requests. No manuscript is accepted or rejected on the basis of an automated assessment.
Peer review status of published content
All research articles published in this journal are peer reviewed. Should the journal publish an article type that has not been peer reviewed, such as an editorial, that status is stated on the article itself.
No guarantee of acceptance
The journal does not guarantee, offer, or imply acceptance of any submission, and does not guarantee a publication date before a decision has been made.
Appeals
