Conventional learning methods tend to cause boredom and hinder children's cognitive development, so there is a need for innovative learning media that can stimulate creativity and reasoning skills. This study aims to analyse the effect of implementing an Augmented Reality (AR)-based Snakes and Ladders board game in improving the cognitive abilities of early childhood students at Bustanul Athfal Sragi Kindergarten. This study adopts the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The analysis stage involves observations and interviews at TK Bustanul Athfal Sragi to identify the needs and characteristics of young children, finding that children exhibit active, competitive, and highly curious traits. During the design phase, a physical board game of Snakes and Ladders was developed with AR integration through question cards linked to 3D objects in the Assemblr EDU application. The developed product was then validated by media experts and subject matter experts, resulting in validity percentages of 84% and 80%, respectively, both falling into the ‘Highly Valid’ category. The implementation was conducted on 26 children in Group B1 at Bustanul Athfal Sragi Kindergarten. The research results showed that the use of the AR-based Snakes and Ladders board game successfully increased children's interest, enthusiasm, and curiosity, positively impacting their cognitive development. The integration of the digital and real worlds through AR proved effective in presenting learning materials in a more visual and dynamic manner, supporting the principle of ‘learning through play,’ and sharpening children's technological skills for the future. This study concluded that the AR-based Snakes and Ladders board game is highly effective as an innovative learning medium for optimal cognitive stimulation in young children.
