Abstract: Modernization of Emotional Intelligence on the Effect of Workload on Work Stress
This study aims to analyze the moderating role of Emotional Intelligence in the relationship between workload and work stress among millennial and Generation Z lecturers at Yogyakarta State University. The research employs a causal-comparative design with a quantitative approach. The population includes all millennial and Generation Z lecturers at Yogyarta State University, with a sample of 175 respondents selected using purposive sampling technique. The sample size was determined based on Hair's recommendation, which suggests 5-10 times the number of indicators. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using regression analysis and moderation effect tests with the SmartPLS application. The results indicate that: (1) workload has a positive and significant effect on work stress, and (2) Emotional Intelligence does not significantly moderate the relationship between workload and work stress. These findings provide important implications for human capital management in higher education institutions, particularly in efforts to reduce work stress through workload adjustments and the development of lecturers'Emotional competencies.
