Abstract

Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) is one of the unique approaches adopted by the independent curriculum and has been widely applied in various countries, one of which is Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation of the TaR L approach in physical education, especially in the material of mastering specific skills in soccer games for junior high school students. The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive, and the sample used in this study consisted of 50 junior high school physical education teachers and 50 junior high school students who were in grade seven. The data collection techniques used were distributing questionnaires, conducting observations, and conducting interviews. The results of the study concluded that through the processing of observation toward PE lesson, a percentage of 76% of teachers have implemented TaRL, and 72,80% showed the teachers' response to the application of TaRL for achieving phase D learning. Supporting response from students get 88% of students responding well to the application of TaRL in the material of specific soccer game skills. The results are reinforced by several conclusions from interviews with several teachers and students, where with TaRL teachers can more easily divide and sort class groups in learning according to the needs and abilities of each student. The response from several students, especially female students, is that through the TaRL approach they feel more comfortable and can enjoy learning specific skills and practices playing soccer.
