Focus and Scope

Informasi is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal in communication and media studies, published by the Department of Communication Studies, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, in collaboration with Ikatan Sarjana Komunikasi Indonesia (ISKI). All articles are free to read and download. The journal engages both established and emerging scholars worldwide and pursues high scientific standards, pluralism, and social relevance.

1. Focus

Informasi publishes original empirical research that advances knowledge of communication and media. The journal is interdisciplinary: it welcomes work from across the social sciences and humanities that treats communication, media, or journalism as its object of research, and work that connects academic inquiry with practice in government, business, and civil society.

Articles should offer a clear theoretical framing, a transparent method, and findings that contribute to scholarly debate beyond a single local case.

Digital and social media Platforms, algorithms, digital culture, online communities, fandom, and transmedia storytelling.
Journalism and media studies News production, media content and representation, media audiences, media literacy, and media policy.
Political communication Political participation, activism, censorship, propaganda, and public opinion.
Strategic communication Public relations, advertising, marketing communication, branding, and campaigns.
Organizational and risk communication Communication in organizations and communities, crisis, risk, and health communication.
Interpersonal and intercultural communication Family, educational, and relational communication, privacy management, and communication across cultures.
Communication, culture, and religion Identity, religious communication and authority, and popular culture.

Frequency Two issues a year, in June and December.
