Article Publication Fee

Informasi is an open-access journal. All articles are free to read, download, and share immediately on publication. To cover the costs of publishing, the journal charges an Article Processing Charge (APC), which is payable only after a manuscript has been accepted. This page explains the fee, what it covers, how to pay, and how to apply for a waiver.

In brief. No submission fee · No review fee · APC payable only after acceptance · No paid fast-track · Payment has no influence on editorial decisions · Waivers are available.

  • The APC applies to articles published from Vol. 55 No. 2 (December 2025) onwards.
  • The APC is charged once per accepted article, regardless of the number of authors or pages, provided that the article is within the length set in the Author Guidelines (5,000–8,000 words).
  • There are no other charges for editing, extra pages, colour figures, DOI registration, or online publication.
2. What the APC Covers
  • Management of the editorial and peer-review process through OJS.
  • Similarity checking.
  • Copyediting, proofreading, and layout.
  • DOI registration with Crossref and the deposit of metadata.
  • Online publication with permanent open access, and long-term preservation (see Archiving).
  • Submission of metadata to the databases that index the journal.
3. Editorial Independence
  • Editorial decisions are based solely on scholarly merit and peer review. Editors and reviewers are not informed whether the authors are able to pay or have requested a waiver.
  • Payment does not guarantee acceptance and does not speed up review. The journal never asks for payment before acceptance.
  • The journal does not offer paid fast-track review or publication. All manuscripts follow the same Peer Review Process.
4. How to Pay
Stage Description
1. Invoice After the final decision to accept, the corresponding author receives an acceptance letter and an official invoice stating the submission ID, the amount, and the payment details.
2. Payment Payment is made by bank transfer to the official account stated on the invoice, within the period stated on it. Bank charges are paid by the sender.
3. Confirmation The proof of payment is uploaded in the submission’s Discussions in OJS, quoting the submission ID.
4. Receipt The journal confirms the payment and issues an official receipt. The article then proceeds to copyediting and publication.
Beware of fraud. The journal requests payment only through an official invoice issued after acceptance. Do not pay any person or account that is not stated on the official invoice. If in doubt, contact the editorial office through the Contact page.
5. Waivers

The journal does not want fees to prevent the publication of worthy work. Authors may apply for a full or partial waiver if:

  • the corresponding author is based in a country classified as low-income or lower-middle-income by the World Bank and has no funding for publication;
  • the article is invited by the editors;
  • the authors face other genuine financial hardship, at the discretion of the publisher.

A waiver is requested at submission in the Comments for the Editor field in OJS, with brief reasons. Requests are handled by the Managing Editor separately from the editorial process, and the decision is communicated with the acceptance letter. A waiver has no effect on the review outcome.

6. Withdrawal and Refunds
  • Withdrawal before acceptance is free of charge.
  • Withdrawal after acceptance is possible only in exceptional cases (see the R-W-C Policy). If the APC has been paid and the article has not been published, the APC is refunded, minus bank charges.
  • The APC is not refunded after publication, including when an article is later corrected or retracted.
  • If the APC is not paid within the period stated on the invoice and no waiver has been agreed, publication may be postponed after the authors have been reminded.
Questions about fees, invoices, or waivers can be sent to the editorial office through the Contact page, quoting the submission ID.
