Abstract


Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh minat belajar IPS, dukungan orang tua, dan strategi pembelajaran IPS terhadap motivasi belajar IPS dan kesulitan belajar IPS. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian ex post facto. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas V SD tahun pelajaran 2011/2012 di Kabupaten Sleman. Sampel penelitian 369 siswa yang diambil dengan menggunakan teknik purporsive cluster sampling. Data dikumpulkan dengan instrumen tes dan skala. Validitas instrumen diperoleh lewat korelasi product moment dan reliabilitas lewat Cronbach Alpha. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) minat belajar IPS dan dukungan orang tua secara signifikan berpengaruh terhadap motivasi belajar IPS dengan persentase 25,5%; (2) minat belajar IPS, strategi pembelajaran IPS, dan motivasi belajar berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kesulitan belajar IPS dengan presentase sebesar 17,4%.

FACTORS AFFECTING LEARNING DIFFICULTIES IN SOCIAL STUDIES AMONG ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS
Abstract: This study aimed to describe the effects of the interest towards learning Social Studies, the parental support, and the learning strategies on the motivation to learn Social Studies and the learning difficulties. This study was an ex post facto study. The population comprised Year V elementary school students in the academic year of 2011/2012 in Sleman Regency. The sample were 369 student taken using the purporsive cluster sampling technique. The data were collected through a test and scales. The instrument validity was assessed by means of the Product Moment correlation and the reliability by Cronbach Alpha. The finding of the study showed that: (1) the SS learning interest and parental support simiultaneously and significantly affected the SS learning motivation with the percentage of 25.5%; and (2) the SS learning interest, SS learning strategies, and SS learning motivation simultaneously and significantly affected the learning difficulties with the percentage of 17.4%.
