THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE INQUIRY-BASED LEARNING APPROACH TO IMPROVE SMA STUDENTS"˜ CHARACTER IN PHYSICS TEACHING
Abstract: This study was aimed to find out the effectiveness of using the inquiry-based learning approach to improve students' character in physics teaching i.e. discipline, creativity, confidence, and cooperation. This research used the quasi experimental method. The population was all of X and XI grades of science students of SMA Negeri 1 Godean and SMA Negeri 1 Ngaglik. The sample of SMA Negeri 1 Godean was taken using the cluster random sampling technique while the sample in SMA Negeri 1 Ngaglik was taken using the purposive sampling technique. The data, collected by using a closed-ended questionnaire, were analyzed by the standard gain method. The findings showed that the inquiry-based learning approach was more effective than the conventional approach to improve students' character in physics teaching i.e. discipline, creativity, confidence, and cooperation.
