The influence of culinary students’ attitudes and environmental perceptions on street food knowledge at vocational high school

Abstract

This study aims to determine: 1) the influence of culinary students' attitudes on their knowledge of street food at SMK Kalasan; 2) the influence of culinary students' environmental perceptions on their knowledge of street food at SMK Kalasan; 3) the influence of culinary students' attitudes and environmental perceptions on their knowledge of street food at SMK Kalasan. This research is a type of quantitative correlational study. The population consists of 210 students. The sampling technique used Slovin's formula with a 10% significance level, resulting in 68 students. Data analysis techniques included descriptive analysis and hypothesis testing using Pearson's product-moment correlation, after conducting prerequisite tests. The results of the study show: 1) culinary students' attitudes have an effect on their knowledge of street food with a correlation of 0.728; 2) culinary students' environmental perceptions have an effect on their knowledge of street food with a correlation of 0.613; 3) both attitudes and environmental perceptions have a positive and significant effect with a correlation of 0.757. Attitudes and perceptions contribute 57.2% to knowledge of street food, with the remaining 42.8% influenced by other factors.
