Development of a digital pocket book learning material on menu for vocational high school culinary students

Abstract

This study aims to: 1) develop a digital pocket book learning material on menu for Vocational High School (SMK) Culinary students; and 2) assess the feasibility of the digital pocket book product on menu material by content experts, media experts, and students in small-scale and large-scale trials. This research is a Research and Development (R&D) study using the ADDIE model, which consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics. Validation was performed by content experts, including university lecturers and teachers specializing in food and beverage service, as well as media experts. The feasibility test of the digital pocket book was conducted in two stages: small class and large class trials. The results of this study are: 1) the development outcome in the form of a digital pocket book learning material on menu consisting of 57 pages, equipped with features such as hyperlinks, videos, and quizzes, accessible both online and offline via links and barcodes. The material compilation and design layout were created using Canva and FlipHTML5 applications; 2) the feasibility assessment by content experts yielded a total score of 119, categorized as very good, with a feasibility percentage of 96.34%, classified as highly feasible. The media experts’ feasibility score was 110, also categorized as very good, with a percentage of 92.40%, classified as highly feasible. The small-class trial feasibility score was 1,061, categorized as very good, with a feasibility percentage of 89.00%, also highly feasible. The large-class trial feasibility score was 5,673, categorized as very good, with a feasibility percentage of 94.62%, likewise highly feasible.
