DEVELOPMENT OF A YOGYAKARTA-STYLE GOLEK MENAK DANCE MAKEUP FLIPBOOK AS A CULTURE-BASED LEARNING MEDIA

This study aims to determine: (1) the design of a flipbook-based learning media on the makeup of the Tari Golek Menak as a culture-based learning medium; (2) the development procedures of the flipbook-based learning media; and (3) the feasibility level of the flipbook-based learning media for the makeup of Tari Golek Menak in Yogyakarta style.
The research method employed is Research and Development (R&D) using the 4D development model, which consists of: (1) define, including problem analysis, needs analysis, and concept analysis; (2) design, including the development of concepts, content framework, and initial flipbook design; (3) develop, including product creation, validation by material and media experts, and revision; and (4) disseminate, including user testing and limited distribution of the flipbook learning media.
The results of the study indicate that: (1) the design of the flipbook learning media was developed based on needs analysis and conceptual understanding of Tari Golek Menak makeup, resulting in a systematic and culture-based design; (2) the flipbook was developed through makeup practice documentation and compiled using Canva into a complete product, then validated by material and media experts and revised based on feedback, making it suitable as a learning medium; and (3) the feasibility level of the flipbook learning media, based on expert validation, obtained a percentage of 93.75% from media experts and 91.25% from material experts, both categorized as “very feasible,” while user testing results reached 96.88% with a “very feasible” category. Therefore, the flipbook on Tari Golek Menak makeup in Yogyakarta style is declared highly feasible to be used as a learning medium.
