Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) the development of an information medium in the form of an e-book on face makeup design for the characters Prabu Klana and the Thief in Mataram Kethoprak as a reference source and learning information medium, and (2) the feasibility level of the e-book on face makeup design for the characters Prabu Klana and the Thief in Mataram Kethoprak. This study was motivated by the limited availability of systematic, easily accessible information sources on Kethoprak makeup that are equipped with visualizations of makeup designs. Therefore, the development of this e-book is expected to provide a practical, attractive, and easy-to-understand information resource for students, beginner makeup artists, performing artists, and the general public.

The research method used was Research and Development (R&D) with the 4D development model, which includes the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. The define stage was conducted through problem and needs analysis, the design stage included the development of the e-book concept and storyboard, the develop stage included product creation and validation by material and media experts, and the disseminate stage was conducted on a limited basis.

The results of the study show that the development of the e-book on face makeup design for the characters Prabu Klana and the Thief in Mataram Kethoprak produced an information medium that is systematic, attractive, and easy to understand. The developed e-book contains material on the introduction to Kethoprak, the basics of Kethoprak makeup, character analysis, 2D visual makeup designs, and step-by-step documentation of character makeup procedures. Based on the validation results, the medium received a highly feasible category from material and media experts and received very good responses from users.
