DEVELOPMENT OF A FLIPBOOK ON MALAY RIAU BRIDAL MAKEUP WITH MODIFIED HIJAB

Abstract

Development (R&D) employing the 4D development model, which includes: (1) define, namely problem analysis related to the lack of information regarding Malay bridal makeup, especially in Riau Province, as well as needs and concept analysis; (2) design, namely preparing the concept, content framework, and initial flipbook design; (3) develop, namely product creation, validation by material and media experts, and revisions; and (4) disseminate, namely user testing and limited distribution of the flipbook learning media to 30 panelists consisting of makeup artists (MUAs) in Riau Province, cosmetology students, and other MUAs.

This study developed a Flipbook for Modified Riau Malay Bridal Makeup with Hijab: (1) the flipbook learning media design was prepared based on needs analysis and the concept of Modified Riau Malay Bridal Makeup materials, resulting in a systematic and culturally based design; (2) the flipbook was developed through documented makeup practices and arranged using Canva into a complete product, then validated by material and media experts and revised based on suggestions so that it became suitable for use as a learning medium; and (3) the feasibility level of the flipbook learning media, based on media expert evaluation, obtained a percentage of 94.3%, while material experts gave 93.3%, both categorized as “highly feasible,” and user testing results reached 94.8%, also categorized as “highly feasible.” Therefore, the Flipbook for Modified Riau Malay Bridal Makeup with Hijab is considered highly suitable for use as a learning medium.
