Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission is original, has not been published before, and is not under consideration by another journal (if an earlier version was presented or published, explain this in the Comments for the Editor).
  • The manuscript is a Research Article or a Literature Review and fits the Focus and Scope of JPK.
  • The manuscript uses the official JPK template (Microsoft Word, .doc or .docx) and is 5,000–8,000 words, excluding the abstract and references.
  • The abstract is structured (Purpose, Method, Results, Conclusion) and provided in English and Indonesian, with 3–5 keywords.
  • Two files are prepared: an anonymous manuscript and a separate title page containing all author details.
  • The anonymous manuscript contains no author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, or identifying document properties, and self-citations are written as “Author (Year)”.
  • References follow APA 7th edition, with DOIs or URLs where available.
  • Tables and figures are placed within the text and follow the template format.
  • The similarity check (Turnitin) is within the limit: 20% overall and 20% from a single source.
  • Ethical approval and informed consent are reported where required, and the declarations (conflict of interest, funding, author contributions, data availability, and generative AI use) are included.
  • All authors meet the Authorship Criteria, and their details (name, affiliation, email, ORCID iD) are complete.
  • The authors have read the Copyright Notice and agree that the article will be published under the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license.

Author Guidelines

The manuscripts

The manuscript should be an original research paper which sufficiently contributes novelty to special education, and technology education. Authors are requested to submit their papers electronically by using the JPK (Jurnal Pendidikan Khusus) online submission procedure. The corresponding author should also provide statement that the manuscript is not concurrently being under consideration for publication elsewhere. The Editors will ignore submissions that do not follow these procedures.

Structure of the manuscripts

1. Title. The title should be clear and informative, and not more than 14 words. Avoid uncommon abbreviations.

2. Author's names and institutions. The author’s names should be accompanied by the author’s institutions, email addresses, and ORCID iDs (if available), without any academic title. For a joint paper, one of the authors should be notified as the corresponding author. In the double-blind review, author details are written on the separate title page only, not in the anonymous manuscript.

3. Abstract and keywords. The abstract should be structured with the labels Purpose, Method, Results, and Conclusion, in 150–200 words. Please provide the abstract in both English and Indonesian versions. The keywords should be of 3 to 5 words or phrases, with the same order in both languages.

4. Introduction. This section explains the background of the study, the urgency, a review of previous research in the area, the research gap and novelty, and the problem, aim, and significance of the study. It is written as narrative paragraphs without subheadings.

5. Methods. This section describes the research design, time and place, participants or population and sampling, procedure, data and instruments (with their validity and reliability), and the data analysis. For a Literature Review, this section states the databases, the search period, the selection criteria, and the number of studies included.

6. Results and Discussion. This section presents the results clearly and concisely, using tables or figures where helpful. The discussion should interpret the results, connect them to theory and previous studies, and explain the contribution of the work to the special education literature.

7. Conclusion. This section answers the research problem and aim, and gives recommendations, if any. The conclusion(s) should be in the same order as the points discussed in the body of the manuscript. Do not repeat detailed numbers.

8. Declarations. Statements on ethical approval and informed consent, conflict of interest, funding, author contributions, data availability, and generative AI use, placed before the References, even when the answer is “not applicable”.

9. References. This section lists only the papers, books, or other publications cited in the body of the manuscript, in APA 7th edition, with DOIs where available.

10. Appendices (optional). Instruments, interview guides, or extended tables, labeled Appendix A, B, and so on.

General Writing Format

1. The manuscript is prepared on A4 paper, single-sided, with single line spacing. Body text uses Times New Roman, 11 pt, upright, and a new paragraph starts with an indent of about 1 cm.

2. The manuscript is written in Indonesian or English. Whichever language is used, it must be clear, grammatically correct, and professionally edited. The title, abstract, and keywords are provided in both languages.

3. The manuscript is 5,000–8,000 words, excluding the abstract and references.

4. Margins: top 3 cm, bottom 2 cm, left 3 cm, and right 2 cm. These are set in the official template, so please do not change the page size, margins, header, or footer.

5. The title is written in 14 pt, bold, centered, with capital letters only for the first word and special names (for example, a location name), maximum 14 words. The Indonesian title is written in bold italic.

6. The abstract and keywords are written in 10 pt as a structured abstract in one block of text. The Indonesian abstract is written in italic.

7. Main headings (Introduction, Method, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, References) are centered and written in capital letters.

8. Subheadings are unnumbered, written with a capital letter only for the first word and special names, 11 pt, not bold, and started from the left margin.

9. Sub-subheadings, if any, follow the same pattern as subheadings and are started from the left margin.

10. Tables have the caption above the table, centered, with horizontal lines only (top, below the column headings, and bottom) and 10 pt text. Figures are centered with clear resolution, and the caption is placed below the figure. Equations are numbered (1), (2), and so on at the right margin.

11. Do not paste raw software output. Summarize the results in tables.

12. References should mainly come from the last ten years (at least 80%), except for key references. Reliance on textbooks should be kept to a minimum (less than 20%).

13. Apply the template styles from the Styles pane. When pasting text from another document, use Paste, Keep Text Only first.

Specific Writing Format

1. Equations and formulas are numbered (1), (2), and so on, at the right margin.

2. Output from a software package must not be pasted directly into the paper. Summarize the results in tables.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should be presented as follows:

1. Tables and figures are numbered with Arabic numerals (Table 1, Figure 1). The table title is placed above the table, and the figure title is placed below the figure.

2. The source of information, if any, is written below the table or figure.

3. A table contains only a heading and contents. Use horizontal lines only (top, below the column headings, and bottom), without column lines. Notes and sources are placed underneath the table, and table text uses 10 pt.

4. Tables and figures are placed within the text at the point where they are discussed, and each must be mentioned in the text.

Acknowledgment

Acknowledgment, if any, is written on the separate title page, not in the anonymous manuscript, so that the double-blind review is not compromised.
