Author Policy
Jurnal Manajemen Pendidikan (JuMP) recognizes authorship as both academic credit and responsibility for the integrity of published research.
This policy is guided by the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT), and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
All authors are expected to make genuine intellectual contributions, approve the final manuscript, and accept responsibility for the published work.
1. Authorship Criteria
To qualify for authorship, an individual must meet all four criteria:
- Make a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the study; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of research data.
- Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
- Approve the final version of the manuscript before publication.
- Agree to be accountable for the integrity of the work and ensure that questions concerning accuracy or research integrity are appropriately investigated and resolved.
Activities such as obtaining funding, providing general supervision, granting research permission, administrative assistance, language editing, or proofreading do not independently justify authorship.
Contributors who do not meet the authorship criteria may be recognized in the Acknowledgements section with their permission.
2. Unacceptable Authorship Practices
JuMP does not support inappropriate authorship practices, including:
- Gift or honorary authorship: including individuals who have not made qualifying contributions.
- Guest authorship: adding a prominent individual's name to increase the perceived credibility of a manuscript.
- Ghost authorship: excluding qualifying contributors or concealing substantial writing contributions.
- Purchased or traded authorship: buying, selling, or exchanging authorship positions.
- Coercive authorship: requiring authorship because of an individual's academic or institutional authority.
- AI authorship: listing generative AI systems as authors.
Potential violations may be evaluated under the journal's Publication Ethics and Research Misconduct policies.
3. Order of Authors and Responsibilities
The order of authors must be discussed and agreed upon by all co-authors before submission.
Authorship order should reflect the nature and extent of intellectual contributions rather than academic rank, seniority, or institutional position alone.
For manuscripts derived from student theses or dissertations, authorship should reflect actual contributions and agreement among all eligible authors.
Corresponding Author
The corresponding author is responsible for:
- Ensuring that all eligible authors are appropriately listed.
- Obtaining approval from all authors before submission and publication.
- Communicating editorial decisions and revision requirements.
- Ensuring consistency between the manuscript and OJS metadata.
- Responding to editorial inquiries before and after publication.
In accordance with JuMP's Author Guidelines, the editorial office ordinarily contacts the first author unless another corresponding author is explicitly designated.
4. Author Contributions (CRediT)
Authors are encouraged to report their individual contributions using the CRediT taxonomy.
The taxonomy includes the following 14 contributor roles:
| Role | Contribution |
|---|---|
| Conceptualization | Research ideas and objectives |
| Methodology | Research design and methods |
| Software | Programming and software development |
| Validation | Verification of results |
| Formal Analysis | Statistical or qualitative analysis |
| Investigation | Data collection and fieldwork |
| Resources | Research materials and resources |
| Data Curation | Data management and organization |
| Writing - Original Draft | Initial manuscript preparation |
| Writing - Review & Editing | Critical revision and editing |
| Visualization | Figures, tables, and visual presentation |
| Supervision | Research oversight |
| Project Administration | Research coordination |
| Funding Acquisition | Acquisition of research funding |
Example of Author Contributions
Author 1: Conceptualization, Investigation, Formal Analysis, Writing - Original Draft.
Author 2: Methodology, Supervision, Writing - Review & Editing.
All authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript.
CRediT roles describe individual contributions but do not independently determine authorship eligibility. All listed authors must meet the authorship criteria described in Section 1.
5. Author Information and Affiliations
Authors must provide accurate and complete information, including:
- Full names without academic titles.
- Department or faculty, institution, city, and country.
- Corresponding author's email address.
- ORCID iD, where available.
- Consistent author information in the manuscript and OJS metadata.
Authors should identify the institution where the research was conducted. Any relevant change of affiliation may be indicated separately.
6. Changes in Authorship
6.1 Before Acceptance
Requests to add, remove, or rearrange authors must be submitted in writing to the editorial office.
The request should include:
- The current and proposed author lists.
- The reason for the change.
- The contribution of any newly proposed author.
- Written agreement from all authors affected by the change.
The editorial office will evaluate the request before any change is made to the author list or OJS metadata.
6.2 After Acceptance
Authorship changes after acceptance may be considered only in exceptional circumstances and require approval from the Editor-in-Chief.
6.3 After Publication
Authorship changes after publication will be assessed in accordance with the journal's correction and publication ethics procedures.
Where appropriate, the journal may publish a formal correction to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
7. Authorship Disputes
Authors are encouraged to resolve disagreements concerning authorship before submission.
When an authorship dispute arises, the editorial office may request written clarification and supporting documentation from the parties involved.
If the dispute cannot be resolved through agreement among the authors, the journal may suspend editorial processing and refer the matter to the relevant institution for review.
The journal will consider appropriate editorial action based on the available evidence and the outcome of the inquiry.
8. Responsibilities after Publication
All authors remain responsible for the integrity of their published research.
- Authors must respond appropriately to questions about the accuracy of their published work.
- Authors must promptly inform the journal of significant errors or inaccuracies.
- Authors are expected to cooperate with investigations, corrections, or retractions when necessary.
