Abstract

Penulisan sejarah banyak mengalami kemajuan, baik dari segi metodo­
logi maupun materinya. Penulisan Sejarah Sosial khususnya mengalami
perkembangan pesat, dengan menggunakan pendekatan multidimensional,
sebab sejarah sosial memiliki cakupan yang sangat luas.

Materi-meteri sejarah sosial meliputi pelaku sejarah, baik seseorang
ataupun kelompok manusia seperti: pedagang, buruh, nelayan, petani atau­
pun guru. Sejarah Sosial mengungkap struktur-struktur sosial, gerakan so­
sial, studi tentang kota perkotaan atau sejarah sosial kota dan sebagainya.

Langkah-langkah penulisan sejarah sosial meliputi empat kegiatan pokok
yakni : Heuristik, Kritik, lnterpretasi dan Penyajian. Penulisan sejarah sosial
tidak ditulis secara diskriptif, melainkan harus disusun secara analisis agar
merupakan penulisan sejarah yang bersifat ilmiah.
