Announcement for Prospective Authors

We would like to inform all prospective authors that starting in 2026, Civics: Media Kajian Kewarganegaraan will no longer accept manuscripts focusing solely on instructional practices or classroom-based learning models of Pancasila and Civic Education (PPKn).

Moving forward, the journal will exclusively publish articles that align with the following updated focus and scope:

Jurnal Civics: Media Kajian Kewarganegaraan delves into the discourse and practice of citizenship studies in diverse contexts. This journal focuses on the dimensions and perspectives of cultural citizenship diversity, gender equality and social justice of citizens, civic education, politics of citizenship, moral citizenship, political citizenship, civic literacy, citizen legal awareness, and ideological studies within both national and global frameworks.

The topics of published articles must belong to at least one of the following scopes:

  1. Citizenship Studies
    Multidisciplinary inquiries on:

    • Political citizenship

    • Foundations of rights

    • Economic, social, and historical aspects of citizenship

    • Liberal, republican, multicultural, communitarian, and cultural citizenship

    • Religion and politics in citizenship

    • Post-national and denationalized citizenship

    • Ecological citizenship

    • Urban democracy and citizenship

    • Cosmopolitan and global citizenship

  2. Civic Education and Democratic Participation

    • Democracy and governance

    • Civic responsibilities, skills, and knowledge

    • Social engagement and participatory citizenship

  3. Civic Virtue and Character Development

    • Ethical values: honesty, integrity, respect

    • Social responsibility and community involvement

    • Global citizenship

    • Emotional intelligence: empathy, self-regulation, communication

    • Cultural awareness and inclusion

    • Critical thinking and personal value reflection

  4. Political Citizenship and Legal Awareness

    • Human rights and political theory

    • Constitutional and public law

    • Social justice and public policy

    • Media and information literacy

    • Youth civic engagement and activism

    • Ethics in politics and legal frameworks

  5. Ideological Perspectives of Citizenship

    • Political ideologies and civic identity

    • Race, gender, and religion in shaping ideologies

    • Ideological discourse in global and digital settings

    • The role of national ideology in citizenship

We highly encourage all authors to ensure their submissions fall within the updated scope. Manuscripts outside of this scope will not be considered for review.
