Abstract

The Sulawesi Island, Indonesia, harbours a high diversity of freshwater shrimp species, especially from family Atyidae. One of the distribution ranges for atyid shrimp in Sulawesi is the Papasong Stream, Parigi Moutong, Sulawesi Tengah. This research purposes to provide an identiﬁcation key of the freshwater shrimp species from familyAtyidae, accompanied by pictures of the characters of each species. Samples were collected in 2021 from three sites in Papasong Stream, such as upstream, middle and downstream of the stream, using tray net. Six species were collected namely Atyoida pilipes, Caridina brevicarpalis, C. gracilipes, C. serratirostris, C. villadolidi, and C. weberi. The majority of the Caridina shrimps were found in the downstream which is low to moderate ﬂ ows, while the genus Atyoida were found in the upstream with fast currents. The availability of species identiﬁcation keys in this article will make it easier to identify the six species of the family Atyidae in the Papasong Stream and also enrich the biodiversity data of aquatic fauna originating from Parigi Moutong.Keywords: freshwater shrimp, Sulawesi, Caridina, Papasong Stream, identiﬁcation key
