GUIDEBOOK FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A CINNAMON ESSENTIAL OIL BALM STICK AS AROMATHERAPY: CINNABALM AROMATHERAPY STICK
Abstract
The objectives of this study were: 1) to produce a guidebook for the formulation of a balm stick made from cinnamon essential oil as aromatherapy, and 2) to measure the feasibility of the guidebook for the formulation of a balm stick made from cinnamon essential oil as aromatherapy. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Validation was carried out by material experts and media experts, and the product was also tested by users. The user test involved 37 panelists aged 12–50 years. The approaches used were quantitative and qualitative. This study was conducted from August 2024 to June 2025 in the Chemistry Laboratory, Faculty of Vocational Studies, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. The results of this study showed: 1) the successful creation of a guidebook for the formulation of a balm stick made from cinnamon essential oil as aromatherapy, and 2) the guidebook demonstrated a feasibility level above 91% based on material validation, media validation, and user testing. These results indicate that the book is highly feasible for use as an educational medium. Future studies may develop the guidebook into a digital format to broaden its readership.
