Author Guidelines

Widyakara Journal publishes research articles, systematic literature reviews, and conceptual articles in vocational education, administration, and digital transformation. These guidelines cover the three stages of publishing with us: before submission, submission, and after submission. Read them together with the three Widyakara templates: 1. Title Page, 2. Anonymised Manuscript, and 3. Statement of Originality. Manuscripts that do not follow the templates are returned without review.

Quick checklist. English · 10–15 pages · title ≤ 12 words · abstract ≤ 150 words · 3–5 keywords · APA 7th edition · at least 20 references, at least 80% primary sources and at least 80% from the last 10 years, with DOIs · similarity ≤ 20% overall and ≤ 1% per source · three files: Title Page, Anonymised Manuscript, Statement of Originality · no submission or publication fee.

Part A. Before Submission

1. Check the scope and article type

Read the Focus and Scope. Widyakara publishes research articles, systematic literature reviews (PRISMA 2020), and conceptual articles.

2. Use the templates

Template Use it for
1. Title Page Author names, affiliations, emails, ORCID iDs, Acknowledgements, and all Declarations. Not sent to reviewers.
2. Anonymised Manuscript The full manuscript without any author information. Sent to reviewers.
3. Statement of Originality The Statement of Originality and Publication Agreement, signed by the corresponding author on behalf of all authors (PDF).
  • Replace every instruction in the template with your own text and delete the instructions.
  • Keep the layout: A4, Times New Roman 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing for the body; abstract in 10 pt single spacing.
  • Do not fill in the article history, DOI, or citation box; the editor completes them. After acceptance, the editorial team prepares the final layout.

3. Language and style

  • Manuscripts are written in English. Use one spelling convention (British or American) consistently.
  • Have the manuscript proofread by a professional editor or a fluent speaker before submission. Manuscripts with poor English are returned before review.
  • Italicise non-English terms, and explain abbreviations at first use.

4. Manuscript structure

Section What to include
Title At most 12 words; specific and informative.
Authors Full names without academic titles; department, institution, city, and country; corresponding author's email; ORCID iDs. Title Page only.
Abstract One paragraph of at most 150 words: purpose, method, main results, and conclusion. No citations.
Keywords 3–5 words or phrases, separated by semicolons.
Introduction Background, state of the art, research gap and novelty, and the objective in the last paragraph.
Method Design, participants or sample, instruments with validity and reliability, procedure, analysis, and ethical procedures. Reviews report the search and selection process (PRISMA 2020).
Results and Discussion Results supported by tables or figures, then a discussion that interprets the findings with theory and compares them with recent studies.
Conclusion Answers to the objectives, implications, limitations, and suggestions; no new data or citations.
Acknowledgements and Declarations Author Contributions, Funding, Conflict of Interest, Ethics Approval, Data Availability, and Generative AI Statement.
References APA 7th edition.

5. Required statements

  • Author Contributions (CRediT), for example "A.B.: conceptualisation, methodology, writing – original draft; C.D.: data collection, formal analysis."
  • Funding: funder and grant number, or "This research received no external funding."
  • Conflict of Interest: for example "The authors declare no conflict of interest."
  • Ethics Approval and Informed Consent: number and year of the approval, or a statement that the study complied with research ethics and that informed consent was obtained; "Not applicable" for studies without human participants.
  • Data Availability: where the data, questionnaires, or transcripts can be obtained (Data Availability Policy).
  • Generative AI Statement: the tool, version, and purpose, or a statement that no generative AI was used (Generative AI Policy).

All statements are written on the Title Page. The Anonymised Manuscript repeats Conflict of Interest, Ethics Approval (committee name masked), Data Availability, and the Generative AI Statement. All statements are printed in the published article.

6. Citations, references, tables, and figures

  • Follow APA 7th edition, for example (Rahman, 2021); (Putri & Santoso, 2020); (Wijaya et al., 2022).
  • Include at least 20 references; at least 80% primary sources and at least 80% from the last 10 years. Cite original sources, and include DOIs as https://doi.org/….
  • Every citation appears in the reference list and vice versa. Use a reference manager such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.
  • Number and title tables and figures and cite them in the text. Table titles go above tables; figure titles below figures. Figures are at least 300 dpi.

7. Prepare files for double-blind review

  • Anonymised Manuscript: no names, affiliations, emails, ORCID iDs, acknowledgements, contributions, or funding. Cite your own work in the third person, mask your institution and research site, and remove personal data from the file properties.
  • Title Page: all author details and all declarations.
  • Statement of Originality: signed by the corresponding author, saved as PDF.
  • Supplementary files (optional): instruments, data, or transcripts, anonymised where needed.

8. Pre-submission checklist

  • The manuscript is in English and uses the three templates, with all instructions removed.
  • Title ≤ 12 words; abstract ≤ 150 words; 3–5 keywords.
  • The Introduction states the gap, novelty, and objective.
  • The Method describes design, participants, instruments, analysis, and ethics.
  • At least 20 APA 7th references, with DOIs where available, all cited in the text.
  • Similarity ≤ 20% overall and ≤ 1% per source.
  • All declarations are complete on the Title Page.
  • The manuscript is anonymised; the Title Page and Statement of Originality are separate files.
  • All authors have approved the submission and have ORCID iDs.
