Archiving Policy and Digital Preservation

Archiving Policy

Kept for the long term. What is preserved, where, and how links stay permanent.

01

Purpose

Jurnal Socia keeps its published articles permanently available, so that the scholarly record stays complete and citable even if the journal website is unavailable. Digital preservation is one of the practices expected of scholarly publishers by COPE and its partners.

Published articles are preserved in more than one place, are never silently removed, and keep the same DOI for as long as they exist.

02

What is preserved

  • Full text of every published article, in PDF and HTML.
  • Article metadata, including title, authors, affiliations, abstract, keywords, references, and DOI.
  • Issues, with their tables of contents and covers.
  • Notices of correction, expression of concern, and retraction, linked to the original articles.
  • Supplementary files that were published with the articles.
03

Where it is preserved

Journal website The articles are published on the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform of Jurnal Socia.
PKP Preservation Network A free preservation service for OJS journals. Content is held in distributed copies, including through LOCKSS.
LOCKSS Participating libraries store and distribute copies of the content, so that it can be restored if the original site is lost.
Garuda Metadata and links of the articles are deposited in Garuda, the Indonesian national portal for scholarly works.
University / Institutional servers The publisher keeps backups of the journal and its data on secure institutional servers.
04

Permanence of links

  • Every article has a DOI registered with Crossref. The DOI stays the same and points to the current location of the article.
  • If the journal moves to a new platform or address, the DOIs are updated so that they keep resolving.
  • Articles are not removed from the journal. After publication they are changed only through the notices in the Correction and Retraction Policy. A retracted article stays online, marked as retracted.
05

Access and reuse

  • All articles are free to read and download, under CC BY-SA 4.0. See Licensing Terms and the Open Access Policy.
  • Archived copies carry the same licence and the same notices as the original.
  • Readers and institutions may deposit copies of an article in a repository within the terms of the licence.
06

Records

Confidential editorial records, including case files on ethical concerns, are kept for at least five years. They are not part of the public archive.
