AI Policy

Jurnal Keolahragaan recognizes that generative AI tools can support parts of the writing process. This policy sets out how authors, editors, and reviewers may and may not use them. It follows the guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) on authorship and AI tools.

For authors

  1. AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Authorship carries responsibilities that only humans can fulfil.
  2. Authors may use AI tools to improve language and readability. Any use beyond basic language editing must be disclosed in a statement placed before the References section. The statement names the tool, its version, and the purpose of its use.
  3. AI tools must not be used to generate or alter research data, results, images, or figures, unless the use is part of the research method and is described in full in the Methods section.
  4. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the entire manuscript, including any part produced with AI assistance. References must be checked against the original sources.

For editors

  1. Editors must not upload submitted manuscripts, or any part of them, to generative AI tools. Doing so may breach the confidentiality of authors and their data.
  2. Editorial decisions are made by editors. AI tools must not be used to assess manuscripts or to make or justify decisions.
  3. Editors may use AI tools only for language editing of their own correspondence, without including confidential manuscript content.

For reviewers

  1. Reviewers are not permitted to use generative AI tools in reviewing manuscripts. This includes uploading a manuscript, or any part of it, to such tools, and using them to write or summarize review reports.
  2. Review reports must reflect the reviewer's own expert judgement.

Handling of violations

Undisclosed or inappropriate use of AI identified before publication may lead to rejection of the manuscript. If identified after publication, the journal will follow COPE guidance, which may result in a correction or retraction.
